Project Details

The “Theatre” completes the “Hellenic World” Cultural Center complex in Pireos St. It is a multiple-use building, designed to accommodate cultural events of any form and scale (concerts, theatrical performances, conferences etc).

The multi-functionality of the building is achieved through the use of two halls, which can be either united in one or operate separately, as well as with the provision of adequate facilities in terms of technical infrastructure and service spaces. The functional layout of the building consists of a core surrounded by the supporting spaces. This is formally defined through the solid appearance of the auditoriums, which are externally covered with zinc panels.

The supporting spaces encircling the auditoriums are covered by a semi-transparent double glazing system which has a key role in the bioclimatic behavior of the building. The double glazing system opposes the solid core of the building both in texture and form, thus creating a sense of dynamic equilibrium.
